How can back pain be relieved?

It's the pain of the century. Back pain affects a huge number of people around the world. In France, 7 out of 10 people claim to experience back pain or discomfort on a regular basis. So what's the cause? While age is a common factor, it's far from the only one. The back is one of the most demanding parts of the body.

Of course, certain professions, especially those requiring heavy lifting, are particularly affected. Repeated poor posture can also lead to pain, as can a sedentary lifestyle, stress, overwork, insufficient hydration, poor sleep, excess weight and neglect. With regard to this last point, it's not uncommon for people to allow pain to set in, rather than looking for a solution to get better.

So how do you relieve back pain? Fortunately, there are several solutions within everyone's reach...

Avoid inactivity

It's a particularly persistent misconception. Unless back pain stems from an identified injury, inactivity is not advisable. In fact, complete rest tends to increase ankylosis without improving the situation. It is therefore advisable to pursue professional and personal activities to the best of one's ability, and toavoid painful postures. Movement is the best remedy for low-back pain, even if it's not always easy.

Consult a specialist

In the event of back pain, it is highly recommended to consult a chiropractor, physiotherapist or osteopath. For acute low-back pain in particular, this is the right solution. Relief often comes after just one session.

Doctors can also make initial diagnoses and prescriptions via teleconsultation. Ideal for people who find it difficult to get around, the teleconsultation medical booth lets you talk to a doctor, whether a general practitioner or a specialist, from a distance. The cabin is equipped with 7 medical devices and can print prescriptions if required. Soundproofed and ergonomic, it can also accommodate up to 3 people. A very practical facility for maintaining contact with your doctor.

Applying heat

When your back is sore, after a particularly exhausting day at work for example, a hot bath or shower can help. It's also a good idea to apply a hot water bottle or heating blanket to the painful area, for a gentle sensation of relaxation. The only problem is that the effect is usually short-lived.

Using a fitness ball

It's an accessory that everyone should have at home. Fitness balls are ideal for back pain. All you have to do is sit on them and gently rotate your feet on the floor. The key is to move gently, allowing the paravertebral muscles to relax.

Turning to plants

And in particular, harpagophytum, a plant with powerful anti-inflammatory properties. Available in several forms, including gel, tablets and ampoules, it can greatly relieve joint and muscle pain.

Equip yourself with a recliner

When you're looking to relieve back pain, it's important to be able to rely on a recliner capable of providing optimal relaxation. The perfect recliner features a seat and backrest that are neither too soft nor too firm, a headrest to rest the neck, armrests to help you sit down and stand up, and an adjustable footrest. Available in electric or manual versions, the recliner is particularly interesting for the elderly and, more generally, all those who suffer from back pain on a regular basis.

Even more interesting is the zero gravity recliner, which positions the feet at the same level as the heart to improve blood circulation. In such a recliner, designed for maximum relaxation, pressure points are relieved and tension is more easily relieved. So, day after day, the recliner takes care of your back, helping to eliminate or greatly reduce chronic or temporary pain.
